Karen Niparko is the chief human-resources officer for the city and county of Denver. In that role she has led strategy, policy, innovation and leading-practice operations that have transformed the city’s human-capital organization and culture. Her high-performing agency has developed value-added, cost-effective programs and initiatives to advance the city’s workforce, ensure competitiveness for talent, and increase employee engagement. She advises and collaborates with the Denver City Council, the mayor, and city agencies on workforce issues, policy and compliance. Among other improvements, her department has reduced the time-to-hire for city job openings from 85 to 45 days by streamlining the process, as well as improving the employee experience.
Niparko has a BA in business administration from the University of Michigan and an MBA from the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado-Boulder.
