As a member of the External Affairs Leadership team for Blue Shield of California, Antoinette Mayer leads an area that is one of the biggest drivers of the company’s reputation.  In her role as Senior Director of Corporate Citizenship & Corporate Reputation, she is responsible for driving Blue Shield’s presence in the community through corporate giving, volunteerism, and community engagement. Through her leadership, she is helping the $20 billion revenue company to become an award-winning industry leader in corporate social responsibility and environmental sustainability. Mayer leads a team that devises and executes strategies to achieve the company’s social responsibility goals with a focus on transforming Blue Shield’s internal and external reputation, supporting the company on becoming a Great Place to Work and generating maximum social impact. She also oversees the development and execution of internal and external communication strategy related to this work. Mayer reports to the Senior Vice President of External Affairs, who reports to the President and CEO of the company.

Mayer joined Blue Shield in December 2013 and served as the Director of Compensation in Human Resources until her move to External Affairs in 2016. In her previous capacity, her work helped shape the company’s reputation through her contributions to establish and launch the first Workplace Domestic Violence Policy and her role on the Brand Launch team. Both efforts earned her the Mission & Values in Action Award which recognizes Blue Shield employees and teams whose achievements create a positive change in support of the company's mission and company values. The Mission & Values award is Blue Shield's highest honor.

Mayer received a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University. She currently sits on the Advisory Council of Women Health Care Executives and has served on the Board of Directors of W.O.M.A.N., Inc. (Women Organized to Make Abuse Non-Existent) from 2014 to 2017. In this capacity, she established and obtained Board approval for the first long-term strategic plan (2015-2018) in the organization's history. In addition to volunteering at several local organizations in the Bay Area, Mayer has also volunteered abroad in the Philippines and in Africa. In 2015, she served as a Global Volunteer Network (GVN) volunteer at a shelter for women located in Tacloban, Philippines during a personal leave of absence from work.

Mayer lives in Lafayette, California with her husband Alejandro and her two-year-old son Aidan.
